Spartacus - 878 Calories

Today is officially my off-day, but what the hey .. I had an opportunity to train with my wife this morning and this is rare given our schedules. We did 2 rounds of the Men’s Health Spartacus workout and IT WAS GREAT. This was her first time doing the workout and she really enjoyed it.

If you don’t have access to a workout timer, check out the Free Workout Timer by SpeedBag Forums.

Summary:

  • 35 mins (including warm-up/down)
  • HR: 185 (max), 140 (avg)
  • Calories Burned: 878!

Article: Q&A: how do I stay motivated? | Formosa Fitness

… “Working out in the morning gives you a energy and confidence boost because you start the day with a success rather than setting you up for failure when you don’t work out in the evening.”

It has been a challenge for me do my morning workouts. When I do, I feel great and notice a difference. Great tips from Dave on owning one’s motivation. Click through the title to read the full article.

Kettlebell Cardio and The Men's Health Spartacus Workout

Whew … Just completed 1 circuit of the “Spartacus Workout”. Not bad for an early morning workout in under 15 mins. I am technically on my “off day” in the RKC Program Minimum, but what the hey .. LET’S DO THIS! Check out the link above for a good cardio circuit that can be done in your living room with very little equipment!

The difference between hard and soft style | Formosa Fitness

… The difference in hard style and soft style kettlebell training is mostly the use of tension vs. relaxation

Interval Timer to Maintain Intensity

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Kettlebell training. The thing that sold me was burning 525 calories in 25 minutes with the Formosa Fitness Kettlebell Fat Loss Circuit.

To change things up a bit, I incorporated an interval timer and did the Formosa Fitness Basic but TOUGH Ketttlebell workout. The workout was modified a bit to add Left/Right Bent Over Rows and Halos to the workout. After the thirs set, my wife and I were BEAT. We got destroyed by this simple looking workout.

I noticed during this workout that I was not counting reps, but make sure to work as hard as I could for 30 seconds. Anyone can do anything for 30 seconds, right? ;)

Ohh.. on a side note, we recently went on a family vacation and decided to pack a kettlebell in the car. We were able to do the Fat Loss Circuit in the hotel room. Who says you have to miss a workout while on vacation? Not so, with kettlebells and a great workout routine!

Hat tip goes out to Dave of Formosa Fitness for sharing his passion for kettlebells and functional fitness to all those who want to learn.
